A few weeks ago, I found my piano teacher I had in my adult years. Her name is Jodie Jensen. She is a certified Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music piano instructor. They are based out of London, but have teachers worldwide. I took their examinations.. and believe me it was intimidating to be among some of her students who were really amazing kids. I was taking piano lessons from her as an adult, so I was a bit weirded out the students were younger than I. She encouraged me and taught me to sight read better. I was not the best at that ( I still am not).. however she brought out my strengths which were improvisation and composition. She did not try to take out my bad habits, but caused me to strengthen my weaknesses… and taught me to be confident in my music.
I received a response from her this week, tissues please!:
What a lovely e-mail. Your success is a blessing to me. Thank you for sharing about your life and all you have been doing.
After looking at all the wonderful work you have composed and recorded, would it be possible to put you as our composer/artist for the 2015-2016 academic year on my studio website. My current students would love to see such a successful artist and listen, purchase and support your career. Each year I choose a musician who reflects not only great piano skills but composition and improvisation. I post a link to their website, upload a video from YouTube and ask students to go to iTunes or their favorite music site and purchase one or two pieces from that artist. It exposes kids to artists who have made it in the world of music and gives them a little nudge to keep keepin’ on with their music studies. I understand if you might be uncomfortable with this.
It is great to hear that you have a lovely family and still live in California. It is also nice to know that you have found Peace in Music. You are still as beautiful as ever and your music is inspiring and lovely.
May you continue to be blessed for your expansive spirit and musical talent.
With warm regards,
Love you Jodie and my thanks!
More to come…
